New Era for Bassendean Youth Service with Swan Districts Partnership

The Town of Bassendean is pleased to announce a dynamic collaboration between the Town and the Swan Districts Football Club, with the transition of its Youth Service to the Swan Districts Football Club, commencing July 30th. The Youth Centre, located in the heritage-listed McDonald Stand at Bassendean’s Steel Blue Oval, will be relaunched as the Swan Districts Youth Hub, continuing its essential support for youth at risk. The Town of Bassendean has operated the Youth Centre since 1989 and will continue to further develop and deliver a more traditional youth service offering for its younger residents moving forward.

The Swan Districts Football Club, with support from the Department of Communities, looks forward to taking on this exciting project. The Club has appointed local resident Kelly Charlett as Perth Youth Service Coordinator. With her experience working with at-risk youth, Kelly will create a welcoming, safe environment and empower local young people. “I'm excited to team up with our youth to shape the future of Swans Youth Hub and bring their needs and dreams to life and connect our youth with the services they need and workshops they want. No matter where you're from or what your goals are, drop in and say hi, as together, we can create an inclusive community where every youth member is seen, heard, and valued,” she said.

The Swans Youth Hub will also provide a platform to bring school-based Swans Elevate sessions, Swans Café barista training, and other social impact programs to a broader audience. The Hub will be open Tuesday to Friday from 3pm to 6pm, and Saturday from noon to 4pm.
