Genevieve has been recognised for her outstanding accomplishments within her Scout Group. From winning the prestigious Australian Scout Award to leading her team to victory in the Scouts WA navigation event, Genevieve’s journey from a reserved Cub Scout to an inspiring leader is truly remarkable. She embodies the power of patience, commitment, and resilience, showing that with determination, even the shyest among us can achieve greatness and inspire others along the way.

Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering
Carol Seidel

Carol’s incredible 40-year journey as a volunteer in Bassendean is truly inspiring. From her amazing artwork that captures the essence of our community to her relentless efforts in preserving our green spaces, Carol’s impact is immeasurable. Her dedication to preserving our Town’s history through her extensive photo archive is commendable. And let’s not forget her unwavering commitment to local causes, from bringing back volunteer programs to petitioning for community rights.

Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering
Valerie Ann Humphrey

Since 1978, Val has been an incredible force for good in our Bassendean community. From lending a hand in various groups to leading planting programs, Val’s dedication shines bright. She’s made our town greener, cosier, and more magnificent with her hard work in parks, wetlands and along the river. Val’s friendly nature and professionalism make her a real gem in our community and helping to make Bassendean a better place to live.

Community Leadership Award
Netta Thompson

This has been awarded to Netta Thompson, a Bassendean resident and local artist extraordinaire! In recent years, Netta discovered the joy of artistic creation and how it enriches lives. Wanting to spread this joy and celebrate the vibrant creative scene in Bassendean, she came up with the brilliant idea of the ‘Bindaring Creative Trail’. This trail, held over a weekend in November, turned our town into a treasure trove of local art, with home studios and businesses showcasing the talents of our community. Thanks to Netta’s initiative, the Bindaring Creative Trail is now set to become an annual event, inspiring us all to play an active role in strengthening our local community.
