Emergency Management
Under the Emergency Management Act 2005, the Town is required to “manage recovery following an emergency affecting the community in its district” and to “ensure that effective emergency management arrangements are prepared and maintained for its district”.
To assist in performing those tasks, the Town convenes the Bassendean Local Emergency Management Committee (BLEMC) to develop appropriate Preparedness, Prevention, Response and Recovery plans to deal with emergency situations, both natural and man-made.
The Committee meets four times a year and is comprised of personnel from organisations that specialise in emergency management and community outreach and assistance.
