Important Changes to Tip Voucher and Kitchen Caddy Liner Roll Distribution in 2024/25

Published on Wednesday, 24 July 2024 at 9:00:00 AM

The Town of Bassendean is pleased to announce changes to the distribution of tip vouchers and compostable kitchen caddy liner rolls for the 2024/25 financial year, aimed at improving convenience and ensuring equitable distribution for all residents.

Tip Vouchers

In 2024/25, tip vouchers will be included on the printed rates notice. This change eliminates the need for many property owners to request vouchers separately, streamlining the process. Tip vouchers can be redeemed at either the Baywaste Community Recycling Centre ($16 surcharge applies) or the Red Hill Waste Management Facility, both of which accept a wide range of items, including e-waste, scrap metal and cardboard at no cost to residents.

Compostable Kitchen Caddy Liners

In alignment with Western Australia’s Plan for Plastics, from 1 September 2024, all produce bags provided at supermarkets and greengrocers must be certified as compostable to Australian Standards. These compostable bags can be reused as kitchen caddy liners.

The Town will still provide compostable kitchen caddy liner rolls to residents. To ensure equitable distribution, from 24 July 2024 residents will need a voucher to collect a roll. Two vouchers will be printed on the rates notice, redeemable for two rolls (75 bags per roll). This new system will help prevent the over-collection of rolls and ensure all residents have fair access.

eRates Customers

eRates customers will continue to request separate printed tip vouchers and kitchen caddy liner roll vouchers, as these cannot be redeemed electronically. eRates customers can request to have their vouchers mailed to them or collect them in person from Customer Service or the Library. They can also pick up rolls during the same transaction if they prefer.

Renters

Renters will continue to request their tip vouchers and caddy roll liners from their landlord or property manager.
