MINOR WORKS AND CHANGE OF USE TO EXHIBITION CENTRE & EDUCATION ESTABLISHMENT – NO. 1 SURREY STREET, BASSENDEAN (Closed)


The Town of Bassendean has received a planning application relating to No. 1 Surrey Street, Bassendean. The application proposes the following:

  • The continued use of the Heritage Listed ‘Old Pensioner’s Cottage’ as an ‘Exhibition Centre’ (Museum):
    • Open to the public 11.00am – 2.00pm on weekends
    • Open to larger groups on weekdays by appointment
  • The use of the cottage on the site as an ‘Education Establishment’ to host training programs associated with the Museum of Perth:
    • Training programs to be held between 8.00am and 6.00pm weekdays.
    • Maximum 2 staff and 18 participants at a time
  • Minor physical improvements/ restoration works to the property, including: 
    • Removal of 1952 addition
    • Roof restoration
    • Internal wall removal
    • New verandah
