The Town of Bassendean is a small local government that sits along the Derbarl Yerrigan on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people. Planning and Regulation is a team responsible for undertaking statutory functions as provided for by relevant legislation. It includes land use planning, development control, environmental health and ranger services. It seeks to ensure that the built form and local amenity is preserved and enhanced, implementing best practice approaches and providing excellent customer service.
We are seeking an experienced local government professional to lead a team of dedicated officers, drive best practice and provide exceptional support to the community. This role presents an ideal opportunity for someone who is experienced with the local government environment, thrives in a role that shifts between operational and strategic work and has a continuous improvement approach.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold qualifications in planning, public administration management or a relevant field
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret complex legislative requirements and translate information to target audiences
- Have significant experience with policy frameworks, writing and development
Salary and Benefits
This full-time, fixed term contract role attracts a total salary package circa 140k.
The Town also offers 17.5% leave loading, free parking, ongoing training and professional development, and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.
Working Hours
The position is full-time, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a need to attend Council meetings after hours . Flexibility options such as condensed hours, hybrid work, variable start/finish times are options and may be negotiated for this role.
