Council Elections 2023

Local government ordinary elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October. The next Town of Bassendean election is scheduled for 21 October 2023.

The Town's elections are conducted as postal elections by the Western Australian Electoral Commission. The Commission appoints a Returning Officer who oversees the elections which includes taking candidate nominations and supervising the count on election night.

Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with roughly half of the Councillor's terms concluding at each ordinary election. The Town of Bassendean has 7 Councillors. At the upcoming 2023 election there will be 3 vacancies (all 4-year terms).
