The Town has once again joined the Reconciliation Week Banner Project by installing banners on Old Perth Road outside the Council building to commemorate National Reconciliation Week (NRW) from 27 May – 3 June 2022.

This year is the most successful year of the campaign with over 400 banners being installed across the State featuring artwork by Nyangumarta artist, Narlene Waddaman titled Karlamilyi - My Mother’s Country.

Given the ongoing COVID-19 situation some may not be able to make it to any in-person events, so we encourage residents so join the virtual NRW Breakfast, to be held this Friday, which includes a keynote address from leading Wiradjuri and Kamilaroi figure, Stan Grant. Mr Grant is the International Affairs Editor for the ABC and a multi award-winning current affairs host and author.

Mayor Kath Hamilton said this year’s theme is an opportunity for all of us to make a difference,

“The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme ‘Be Brave. Make Change’ is encouraging us to step out of our comfort zone to make a positive impact on those around us. I encourage you to participate by tuning into the diverse Reconciliation presentations and events being delivered this year as part of National Reconciliation Week.”

You can register for your free place at the NRW Breakfast through Reconciliation WA here: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=886493&.
