About the team
The Town’s Planning and Regulation business unit is responsible for the Town’s planning, building, environmental health and ranger functions to create people centred places for our community. We strive for excellent customer service and actively collaborate with other teams to achieve the Town’s priorities.
About the role
The role will give the successful applicant an opportunity to:
- Oversee Building Services, including formulation of policies, programs and projects to meet legislative requirements and the needs of the community.
- Review, assess and grant Building Permits, Demolition Permits, Certificates of Design Compliance (for uncertified Building Permit Applications), Building Approval Certificates and Occupancy Certificates etc. for all classes of buildings in accordance with the Building Act 2011 and Building Regulations 2012.
- Prepare Notices of Proposed Building Order and Building Orders and their accompanying documentation.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveyor or equivalent and a Building Surveyor Level 1 or 2 Certification.

Salary and Benefits
This Fixed Term, full-time position attracts an annual salary up to $116,000 per annum plus superannuation.
The Town also offers up to 4% additional superannuation (conditions apply), 17.5% leave loading, free parking, ongoing training and professional development, and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.
Working Hours
This position is full-time role, 76 hours a fortnight, Monday to Friday. Flexibility options, hybrid work and variable start/finish times are options and may be negotiated for this role.
