Volunteer Services - Transition Arrangements

Published on Friday, 28 February 2025 at 3:11:08 PM

The Town of Bassendean Volunteer Service is undergoing a transition.

Whilst the Volunteer Resource Centre is closed as of 28th of February 2025, Volunteer Services such as the Ryde Program and the Volunteer Transport Service continue to run as normal, and new or existing volunteer enquiries will still be managed by Town staff.

This transition is a result of a broader review of Town services and service levels, with the aim of rebalancing resources based on community demand and need, so that scarce resources can be reallocated to areas of greatest need. Although volunteer enquiries have been decreasing for some time, the permanent volunteer service programs continue to be supported and run as “business as usual”.

During the transition period, regular Volunteer Transport shopping services will continue for existing clients; however please note that no new bookings will be accepted until May of 2025. Existing volunteers will continue to be supported by the Town’s Community Development team members, rather than via a dedicated resource.

Further updates will be provided on the Town website as the reopening date approaches, and registered volunteers will be directly contacted.

For more information or volunteer support, please contact the Community Development Team on 9377 2191 or email [email protected].
