Town of Bassendean Supports Bassendean Street Play Project

The Town of Bassendean is pleased to announce its support of the Bassendean Street Play project, a series of street party events and children's engagement workshops. Organised by the Valuing Children Initiative and the Hello Basso Town Team, the project aims to bring families and community members together to enhance local play spaces for children.

Each event will begin with a walk through the surrounding area to gather feedback from participants, followed by the workshop where attendees will discuss their observations and develop recommendations for improvement. The workshops will capture children’s ideas on what will they think make the streets in their local neighbourhood safe for them to play on. These ideas will be shared with adults, including local government, to help create opportunities for children to play safely outside.

The community is invited to attend the street parties and participate in the workshops:
Saturday 19 October, 10:00 am – Whitfield Street (for children aged 1 to 7 and their parents).
Sunday 3 November, 10:00 am – Mickleton Terrace (for children aged 8 to 15 and their parents).

These events offer valuable opportunities for children and their families to actively contribute to enhancing their local environment. Feedback from children will be collected through various creative methods, including drawings, videos, audio recordings, written submissions, and poetry, and will be compiled into a report to guide future actions.

The Town of Bassendean is proud to support this initiative with a grant, demonstrating its commitment to actively listening to the concerns of the community.
