The Town of Bassendean is pleased to announce the appointment of Joanne Burges as the new Manager of Governance and Strategy. Joanne joins the Town after a distinguished 13-year tenure with the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA), where she held several key roles, demonstrating her commitment to supporting and advancing local governments across the state.
During her time with WALGA, Joanne held three pivotal positions, showcasing her deep understanding of the intricacies of local government. In the role, Joanne helped local governments achieve statewide association positions, to enable more effective advocacy to key stakeholders and the state and federal government.
Before her departure from WALGA, Joanne was the Senior Advisor for Intergovernmental Relations and Risk, and played a significant role in the Training Unit, contributing her expertise as a trainer, assessor, and content developer for professional development programs for both elected members and administration staff.
Joanne will lead the Town of Bassendean’s various integrated reporting functions and commences as the Town embarks on a comprehensive review of service level delivery and a business improvement program.
Joanne joins the Town of Bassendean at an exciting time and has the credentials and experience to assist the organisation as it transitions to a higher performing and sustainable local government, said CEO Cameron Woods.
The Town of Bassendean warmly welcomes Joanne Burges and looks forward to leveraging her wealth of experience to further enhance the Town's governance and strategic initiatives.
